Tell Me Your Story uses your private iCloud account to keep everything in sync. Start a story on your iPhone during a walk, finish editing it on your iPad at home. Your recordings, transcripts, photos, and book progress are always up to date across all your Apple devices.
This isn't just convenient — it's a privacy choice. By using iCloud instead of our own servers, your stories never pass through our systems. We literally cannot access your content. It lives in the same secure, encrypted space as your photos, messages, and health data — your private iCloud.
iCloud also means your stories are backed up automatically. If you lose your phone, get a new device, or accidentally delete the app, your life's work is safe. Just sign into iCloud on any device and everything comes back exactly as you left it.

- How much iCloud storage do I need?
- It depends on how many stories and photos you have. Audio recordings and photos are the biggest items. Most users find the free 5GB tier sufficient for getting started, with the 50GB ($0.99/mo) tier comfortable for extensive collections.
- What if I don't have iCloud?
- The app works without iCloud — all your data stays on your device. However, you won't have sync between devices or automatic backup. We strongly recommend iCloud for the safety of your stories.
- Can anyone else see my stories through iCloud?
- No. Your stories are stored in your private iCloud database, which only you can access. Not even Apple or Tell Me Your Story can see your content. The only exception is Guest Stories, which use a separate shared zone that you control.
