Troubleshooting

Having an issue? Try these steps before reaching out.

Recording issues

  1. 1Check that microphone permission is granted in Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone.
  2. 2Close other apps that might be using the microphone (phone calls, voice memos, video calls).
  3. 3Check your available storage — recordings need at least 100 MB free.
  4. 4If using headphones, try removing them and using the built-in microphone.
  5. 5Restart the app and try recording again.

Transcription issues

  1. 1Ensure Speech Recognition is enabled in Settings > Privacy & Security > Speech Recognition.
  2. 2The on-device speech model may need to download first — connect to Wi-Fi and wait a moment.
  3. 3Speak clearly and try to minimize background noise for the best results.
  4. 4If the transcript has mistakes, tap it to edit manually — your corrections are saved instantly.
  5. 5Transcription works offline once the language model is downloaded.

iCloud sync issues

  1. 1Verify you are signed into iCloud in Settings > Apple Account.
  2. 2Check that iCloud Drive is enabled for Tell Me Your Story.
  3. 3Ensure you have sufficient iCloud storage available.
  4. 4Connect to Wi-Fi and wait a few minutes — initial sync can take some time.
  5. 5If stories appear on one device but not another, try opening the app on both devices while connected to Wi-Fi.

AI features not working

  1. 1AI features require an active internet connection.
  2. 2Make sure you have purchased the AI Story Creator ($49.99) — check in Settings.
  3. 3If your purchase is not recognized, tap "Restore Purchases" in the app Settings.
  4. 4If AI polish seems slow, be patient — it typically takes 10–30 seconds.
  5. 5If you see an error, try again in a minute. Temporary server issues resolve quickly.

Book and printing issues

  1. 1Book assembly requires an internet connection and the AI Story Creator purchase.
  2. 2If assembly gets stuck, close and reopen the app — it will resume from where it left off.
  3. 3PDF generation may take a minute for books with many photos.
  4. 4For printed book orders, double-check your shipping address before confirming.
  5. 5Track your order status in the My Book section of the app.
