After you finish recording, Tell Me Your Story uses Apple's built-in speech recognition to turn your spoken words into written text. The entire process happens on your iPhone or iPad — nothing is sent to any server, ever.
This isn't a rough, barely-readable transcript. Apple's on-device AI produces natural, punctuated text that reads well. And because it runs locally, it works even when you're offline — at the kitchen table, in the garden, or visiting family in a place with no signal.
Once the transcript is ready, you can review and edit it. Fix a name the recognizer got wrong, add a detail you forgot to mention, or simply read through your story and smile. The transcript becomes the foundation of your printed book.

- Does it really work offline?
- Yes — Apple's speech recognition model runs entirely on your device. No internet connection is needed. You may need to download the language model once (a prompt will guide you), after which it works offline forever.
